Today we will learn about expository compositions. Expository compositions are essays written on a subject or topic.

Expository compositions have different components that we must be aware of. You must establish a topic, important ideas, or events in sequence or chronological order You must provide details and transitional expressions that link one paragraph to another in a clear line of thought. You must also offer a concluding paragraph that summarizes important ideas and details.

You have been reading expository compositions this year. You have also written them! Remember that essay on Tornadoes? Those are expository compositions!! Can you think of some expository compositions that you have read?
