Jeremiah 31:31-24 Hebrews 8:8-12
2
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord.
3
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
4
And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
5
True new covenant worship must be through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ.
6
They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain. (Hebrews 8:5)
7
“By this the Holy Spirit indicates that the way into the holy places is not yet opened as long as the first section is still standing...” (Hebrews 9:8)
8
“But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. (Hebrews 9:11)
9
“…through the curtain, that is, through his flesh…” (Hebrews 10:20)
10
Christ is with us Christ is with us “…in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.” (Hebrews 2:12) We are with Christ We are with Christ “For Christ has entered…now to appear in the presence of God…” (Heb 9:24)
11
“…for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.” (Hebrews 8:11) “…that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us…” (John 17:21)
12
“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith…” (Hebrews 10:19-22)
13
Worship is drawing near to God through Jesus Christ, and offering to Him all that He is worthy of.
