Recipes for popular foods can be found in cookbooks, in newspapers, or online. As an example, consider that traditional favorite, the cookie. Everyone loves cookies! Cookie recipes typically include white flour, eggs, butter, and sugar. A healthier alternative is to substitute high-fiber whole wheat flour for white flour. Another healthy change would be to use applesauce to sweeten and moisten the dough instead of eggs, butter, and sugar. This substitution reduces fats and calories without compromising the taste and texture of the cookies.
