10 Woman Entrepreneurs All Rights Reserved No part of this document may be reproduced without written approval from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Story of a Typist This is the story of Bette Graham. A single mother living in the United States in the 1940s. She worked as a secretary at a bank. In those days they used electric typewriters, not the computers that we use now. It was difficult to erase mistakes. This meant typing entire pages, even if the mistake was a small one.

She used her talent as an artist to earn some extra money at the bank painting advertising on windows of the bank she worked in. Bette discovered that she could paint over her mistakes on the window she worked on. She had a brainwave. She decided to experiment and applied this technique to correct mistakes in her typing. She did it secretly for five years. Her bosses did not like it and discouraged her from using this method. But her co-workers often borrowed her paint and brush to wipe out mistakes in their work.
