4 13 So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today – to love the L ORD your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul – 14 then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your corn, new wine and olive oil. 19 He made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down. ‘Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. 21 He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. 22 He reveals deep and hidden things;

5 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

6 1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked... 2 but whose delight is in the law of the L ORD... 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither... 7 Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons, and the dove, the swift and the thrush observe the time of their migration. But my people do not know the requirements of the L ORD. men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do... I give you this charge: 2 preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction.

7 22 The faithful love of the L ORD never ends! His mercies never cease. 23 Great is his faithfulness;his mercies begin afresh each morning. 8 ‘I am the L ORD ; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols. 9 See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.’ 10 Sing to the L ORD a new song... 18 ‘Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. 11 See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. 12 Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come,
