2 Barbaric: uncivilized, wild Progressive: moving forward, new-age thinking Florid: having a healthy red color Untrammeled: free of action, unrestricted Notion: a general idea Valor: courage, bravery Refined: having or showing well-bred feeling, taste

3 Exuberant: extremely excited, lively, enthusiastic Inevitable: certain to happen Impartial: not partial or biased, free of judgment/opinion Fate: something that unavoidably happens, can’t prevent Emanated: to come forth, flow out, issue

4 Allegiance: to loyalty of a citizen to his/her government, to another Ingrafted: to insert, become one Incorruptible: that cannot be bribed or swayed Procured: to obtain to get by care, effort or use of special means Doleful: sorrowful, mournful, melancholy

5 Dire: causing or involving great suffering, dread Subordinate: placed in or belonging to a lower order or rank Retribution: act of punishing or taking vengeance for wrongdoing, sin, or injury Epithalamic: a poem or song written to celebrate a wedding
