14 14 AMEC IN THE NUCLEAR WORLD AMEC is one of the leading providers of technical consultancy, engineering services and programme and asset management to the nuclear industry. Most important nuclear projects of AMEC: UK EPR – Strategic Partnership with EdF PBMR Koeberg Review Bruce A Units 1 & 2 Restart Technical Support Alliance for British Energy Fessenheim NPP performance improvement Sellafield PBO New Storage Facility at Sellafield Cementation Plant at Dounreay

15 15 BRUCE A RESTART Bruce A Units 1 & 2 were shutdown in 1995 and 1997. AMEC has had a major role in the return of the units to service after 8-10 years with a future planned operating life of 25 years. AMEC’s responsibilities include: Overall Project Management including Commercial Management, Contract Management, Risk and Issue Management and Quality Assurance Engineering support, including Oversight of Environmental Qualification program, designated design authorities, Design of modifications Providing Safety and Licensing support, including Safety Analysis, Safe Operating Envelope, Licensing Basis Review, Periodic Safety Review and Seismic Margin Assessment Health Physics / Radiation Protection Laundry / Waste Management

16 16 NEW BUILD: AMEC SCOPE NUCLEAR ISLAND CONVENTIONAL ISLAND Control systems Safety nuclear Operating systems AMEC capability covers nuclear and conventional islands Role as the utilities’ independent technical programme partner for licensing and implementation AMEC has the relationships, capability and resources to be part of this growth

17 17 SAFETY DOCUMENTATION, ACCIDENT ANALYSIS AND LICENSING SUPPORT AMEC has pulled together a strong project team from its staff in Canada, the UK and Romania to deliver the first Periodic Safety Review for the Cernavoda Unit 1 CANDU-6 NPP. AMEC is providing complete Project Management, training for plant staff, and full technical delivery of all PSR Safety Review reports, to IAEA standards. The PSR will provide a 10 year review of safety, operating history, and a confirmation to the operator, Nuclearelectrica and the regulator (CNCAN), of the ongoing plant safety against modern standards and requirements. An added benefit is the extension of the operational re-licensing process from 2 years to a 10 year cycle. Result:
