1. ZACK, ZOE, AND ZERO… THE SUPERHEROES!

2. One warm, August morning, two superheroes and their dog went to school, just like they usually do. Their names are Zack and Zoe, and their dog is named Zero. Zack and Zoe are superheroes… but not the kind of superheroes you’d expect. They don’t have super powers, but they do have super behavior! They choose everyday to go from Zero to Hero. That means that they make good choices in school and strive to be suspended from school ZERO times!

3. On this day, Zack and Zoe were on the playground when they heard a little girl named Ruby start to cry. Their classmate, David, had pushed her off the swings to have his turn. Do you think David did something that a Zero to Hero kid would do?

4. David had made a desperate decision, just so he could have his turn on the swings. That wasn’t kind at all. Zack immediately rushed over to the little girl and helped her up. He made sure that she was okay and he asked her to join his game. He knows that Zero to Hero kids use their hearts and hands for helping! When David saw what Zack had done, he went to Ruby and apologized for pushing her. He didn’t mean to hurt her. By being an awesome role model and a good friend, Zack has saved the day! His choices were brave behaviors!

5. When Zack and Zoe went back to class, it was time to learn and their teacher began reading them a story. Their classmate, Mackenzie, started taking her school supplies out of her desk and playing with them, distracting everyone around her. She was making a desperate decision to play while the teacher was talking. What do you think Zoe did? Zoe whispered to Mackenzie, “That’s not what superheroes do! Zero to Hero kids actively listen and follow directions in class. It’s not time to play right now.” Mackenzie put her things back. Phew – a brave behavior! Zack and Zoe’s classmates were starting to catch on!

6. Zack and Zoe have taken the pledge to be superheroes in their school. You can be a Zero to Hero kid as well, by making the best choices you can. Zero to Hero kids work hard to make zero inappropriate choices. They choose brave behaviors over desperate decisions whenever possible. Everyday, they go from Zero to Hero!
