TELL THEM THE STORY
2
TELL THEM YOUR STORY Deut 7:6-9 For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession. The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your forefathers that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.

Joshua 4:1-3, 20 When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, “Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe, and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan from right where the priests stood and to carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight.”... Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan.

Joshua 4:21-24 He said to the Israelites, “In the future, when your descendents ask their fathers, “What do these stones mean?” tell them, “Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.” for the Lord your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over... He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.”

Judges 2:10 After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baals. They forsook the Lord, the God of their fathers, who had brought they out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the people around them...

When we tell our stories we help our listeners to answer three questions: 1. Who am I? 2. Who is God? 3. What is my purpose in life?
