Why Paul sent Tychicus to Ephesus, 6:21-22 So they could know Paul’s situation, Col. 4:7-9 So they could be comforted, 6:22 By knowing of Paul’s condition and faithfulness By the assurance contained in this epistle God has accomplished His eternal purpose for human redemption in Christ – do not lose heart! 3:11-13, 20-21 We can follow this example of care 7

Example of Tychicus, 6:21-22 Beloved brother, 1 Jno. 4:7-11; Prov. 18:24 Sympathetic, friendly and tenderhearted – able to comfort, 6:22 Faithful minister, Col. 4:7 He had Paul’s confidence (fellow servant) He had shown himself trustworthy, Acts 20: (2 Cor. 8:23) Such faithfulness is a rare commodity (Phil. 2:20-23) 8
