Proposed by Harvard Professor Howard Gardner in 1983, the theory of multiple intelligences strays away from the widely accepted theory that there is only one type of intelligence that is dictated by your IQ. It instead states that there are several different categories of intelligence that any person could fall under, and each one is just as useful as the next.

 Logical-Mathematical Intelligence is defined as having proficiency with numbers, facts, concepts, and abstractions.  Logical thought is often fluid, as opposed to crystalline, meaning it can change and adapt easily.  Therefore, we are able to think quickly and change our ideas if and when new facts are presented.

 We are often more interested in the fields of mathematics and science.  We are generally stronger in mathematical or scientific subjects.  We are excellent problem solvers, think critically and abstractly, and use logical, fact-based reasoning.  We can add, subtract, multiply, and divide quickly in our heads.  Logical thinkers obviously think logically.  They like to understand the reasoning behind concepts.  They like to investigate theories further into detail.  We tend to base our opinions on facts and figures.  We resolve complex situations with abstract ideas and experimentation.

SEE THE SIMILARITIES?

 We are all judgmental, thinking critically in most situations and making tough decisions based on facts and numbers.  As well, we are all intuitive, tending to have original thoughts and capable of innovation.
