What is Health? Health is made up of FOUR parts: Physical Health Emotional Health Social Health Mental Health To achieve good physical health, you need: A balanced diet Physical Activity Good hygiene Plenty of sleep To avoid alcohol, tobacco, and drugs
What is Health? Liking and accepting yourself is a good sign of good emotional health. Good mental health helps you deal with daily problems effectively. Good social health is getting along well with other people. Wellness is having all parts of your health balanced.
Respect & Being Responsible Do you show respect for yourself and others? Are you responsible? To respect someone is to treat that person with dignity and consideration. You are responsible when you are able to be trusted to do what you say you will do. Being responsible also means you can depend on yourself to choose healthful behaviors When you help others, you are being responsible.
Decision Making A good decision is one in which you have carefully considered the outcome of each choice. There are many influences on your decisions. Consequence – result of a decision
Friendship A friend likes and supports you. A true friend thinks about your feelings, not just his or her own. If a friend tries to get you to act in wrong ways, or if they treat you badly, they are not a true friend.
Peer Pressure A peer is someone who is about the same age as you. When a peer tries to influence you, they are using peer pressure. Peer pressure can be good or bad, depending on what they are trying to get you to do.
How Can I Manage Stress? Stress is the changes that happen in your body when you have strong feelings. You might get a headache. You might get an upset stomach. Your heart might beat faster. Your palms might sweat There are times when you might feel stress. You might feel stress when you are worried about a test. Sometimes stress can help you.
Anger & Conflict Anger is a strong emotion that develops when you feel upset or hurt. Everyone feels angry at times, but acting on your anger by yelling or hitting is not okay. A conflict is a strong disagreement or fight. Conflicts can be verbal or physical.
