9 History and Purpose : Developed by National Institute for Advanced Transportation Technology (NIATT) Traffic Tracker is a Windows 98/95/NT program that allows you to collect time data using a data collection environment that you design. University of Idaho; Nov 19, 2004 9

10 Use of Traffic Tracker Collecting data. Analyzing time-based traffic flow data The program allows you to design a data collection screen that is a graphical representation of the location where you are collecting data University of Idaho; Nov 19, 2004 10

14 Steps involved in the data collection Select the 'Collect Data' option from the main menu Select a data collection environment to use. Designate a file name and directory for the data file Enter the correct start time Press the Start/Pause button Collect data by pressing the trigger keys of your data collectors Exit the Data Collector when finished by pressing the Exit button. 16 Analysis of Data Data will be stored in the file that you select prior to opening the Data Collector. Your data are stored in a comma-delimited text file (*.csv) that can be opened easily in any spreadsheet. Traffic Tracker files include information about the data collection environment that was used, the date, and the time that the data was collected University of Idaho; Nov 19, 2004 16
