1 Man Being Reconciled To God
THE ATONEMENT Man Being Reconciled To God Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

2 Introduction Text: Romans 5: 1-11
There is a Thread, a Thought, that is woven throughout the New Testament. It is the Greatest Story ever told! The Story of the “Atonement” of Mankind. However………….. It is not always taken as serious as it should be. Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

3 Introduction cont… “…Light and erroneous views of the atonement come from light and erroneous views of Sin. If sin is regarded as merely an offence against man, a weakness of human nature, a mere disease, rather than a rebellion, transgression, and enmity against God, therefore, something condemning and punishable, we shall not, of course, see any necessity for the atonement.” William Evans, The Great Doctrines of the Bible Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

4 Introduction cont… Why does man even need to be concerned with this topic? Mankind's sins have separated us from God, God has never moved from His position. In order for mankind to once again be “At-One-Ment” with God, it required that Jesus provide the means of reconciliation. We will learn what that means and requires. Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

5 Man began At-One With God
Genesis 1:26 & 27 “Let us make man…” “So God created man in His own imagine…” Genesis 1:31 “And God saw everything He had made, and, behold it was very good…” Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

6 Overview As noted above, everything God created was “very good,” in a perfect condition, when He completed His creation, this included mankind. He explained to mankind his role in this creation and how to maintain his standing in the eyes of God. Genesis 1:28 &29, Genesis 2:15,16 &17 Mankind did not heed God’s words and therefore we became separated from God by sin. Genesis 3:1-24, especially noting verses 22 – 24. Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

7 Overview cont……. WHAT HAPPENED? ------------------------ SIN!!!!
ISAIAH 59:1& tells us; (1)“ Behold the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear: (2) But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear….” Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

8 Overview cont….. Therefore;
ROMANS 5:8 -11 “ But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (9) Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. (10) For if, when we were enemies we were reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. (11) And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the ATONEMENT [reconciliation]. Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

Man created sinless - Heaven Bound. Sin Had man not sinned, this would have been the path The Fall Man LEFT the path to life. Blood applied Reconciled Heaven Life Point of choice Jesus pays the price for man’s sins, makes the At-One-Ment possible HELL Death Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

12 How to be At-One with God Again.
One must first realize the seriousness and outcome of Sin. That it, SIN, brings death to All, Romans 6:23a, “For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 5:12 Sin separates one from God Isaiah 59:1&2 To be At-One with God is through “the faith of the operation of God.” Colossians 2:12 Man moved away from God, God provide a way back to Him. “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23b (11) “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. (12) He that hath the Son of God hath life and he that hath not the Son hath not Life.” I John 5:11&12 “For as many as have been baptized into Christ, have put on Christ” Galatians 3:27. Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

13 How to be At-One with God Again.
Paul tells us more about this in, ROMANS 6:2-14 Those baptized into Christ have been freed from the penalty of sin. Note vs. 3 - Paul tells more of the story, as stated in Galatians 3:27, those who have been baptized into Christ and put Him on, have been baptized into His Death; Die to sin Raise to live Note vs. 11 Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

14 How to be At-One with God Again.
This is accomplished through Obedient Faith in the “Operation” or “Working” of God; “Buried with Him in Baptism in which you also were raised with him through faith in the operation (working) of God, who raised him from dead.” Colossians 2:12-13 Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

15 What Must I Do To Live? In Acts 2 the people heard (Romans 10:17) the Gospel Message, they believed (Mark 16:16), what they heard and asked, “Men and brethren “What shall we do?”, they were told to Repent and be Baptized (Vs. 38) in order to wash away their sins (Acts 22:16), their baptism would have followed their Confession of their belief in Christ as the Living Son of God (Acts 8:36, 37 & 38). Once this has been accomplished, one has “put on Christ” and is now At-One with God, God now sees you through the Blood (Appeasement) of His Son. You have been made Alive. Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017

16 Summary and Conclusion
Man was created in a sinless state, God saw everything created and it was “very good.” Man sinned, transgressed – man Left the way of God, and was “separated” from God, - DEAD. Not God from man, but man from God. God provided a means for man to COME BACK TO LIFE AT-ONE-MENT. Christ is that Way. What will Mankind, what you choose to do with this message? Refer back to the earlier passages of scripture in this summary section. Isaiah 59:1&2, Romans 5:11 4/12/2017
