2.  The Bible uses the phrase “the voice of the LORD” 48 times.  The voice of the Lord is the rhema of God.  The voice of the Lord is harmonious.  The voice of the Lord is filled with glory and order.  The voice of the world is chaos and confusion, dissonance and shame.

3.  The voice of the world is condemning, critical, and hostile.  The voice of the Lord is loving, encouraging, and peaceful.  The voice of the Lord reassures and leads in the way of peace.  The voice of the Lord is creative.  The voice of Satan is destructive. He tries to appear as “an angel of light,” but he is the darkness.

4.  Have you heard the voice of the Lord? ◦ Peter heard the voice of the Lord when Jesus told Peter to walk on the water. ◦ Lazarus heard the voice of the Lord and came out of the grave.  The voice of the Lord rebukes and chastens, Rev. 3:19.  The voice of the Lord prunes and corrects.  The voice of the Lord is the voice of the Scripture.

5.  The voice of the Lord is the voice of godly counsel. ◦ If someone counsels you and you are uncertain about their authority, then ask them where the Bible says what they say.  The saints hear the voice of the Lord.  Isaiah heard His voice, Isaiah 40:5.

6.  Seek to become sensitive to the voice of the Lord. ◦ You must tune out the counsel of others to hear His voice.  Genesis 3:8, “And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.”

7.  Psalm 29:3-6  3, The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.  4, The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.  5, The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.  6, He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion [Mt. Hermon] like a young unicorn [young wild ox].

8.  Psalms 29:7-9  7, The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.  8, The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.  9, The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds [deer] to calve, and discovereth [uncovers, makes bare] the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.

9.  John 5:24, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”  False prophets claim to hear the voice of the Lord. ◦ The people are ready to believe lies. ◦ The ears of the people are deaf to the voice of the Lord.

10.  The Lord brought judgment upon Israel because they would not hear the voice of the Lord. Jeremiah 6:10, “To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.”

11.  Delight yourself in the Word of the Lord.  If you don’ t love to hear the voice of the Lord, why should God speak to you?  The world does not hear the voice of the Lord, although He is speaking to them.  You will become the voice of the Lord. John the Baptist said he was the voice of one crying in the wilderness. He told the people to get ready for the coming of the Lord.

12.  Those who hear His voice now will also hear His voice in the resurrection. Those who do not hear His voice now, that is, those who reject His voice now, will hear it at the resurrection of wicked.  Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

13.  John 5:25-29, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. 26, For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; 27, And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. 28, Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”

14.  Ezekiel 3:17, “Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.”  Ezekiel 33:6-7, “But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand. 7, So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.”

15.  John 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28, And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

16.  “If My people will humble themselves before Me, then they will hear My voice. If they will turn from their wicked ways, their carnal ways, their worldly ways, then they will hear My voice. I am speaking to them all the time, but they do not hear My voice.”

17.  “Listen to Me, says the Lord, and I will direct your paths. I will lead you in the path of life and not death, in the way of holiness and not fear. Call and unto Me and seek My face. Then listen to My voice. Why should I speak to you if you are not going to do what I say?”

18.  “Time after time and day after day I wait for you to seek Me but you continue in your own ways, but those are not the right way. My way is the way of life. My way is the way of peace. Why do you walk in fear when My way is the way of peace?”

19.  “Humble yourself in My sight and I will lift you up. You want My direction for your life, for your decisions. Seek Me and I will be found of you. I am waiting for you to seek Me with all of your hearts. You think you have the right way, but My way is the way of life. I am the way through every difficulty.”

20.  “Seek Me and I will show Myself strong and able unto you. So do not hold back, but press in for the blessings I have for you. I want you to have them, but you must take them. The fruit is on the tree, but you must harvest it. My blessing is at hand, but you must take it. I will not force it on you.”

21.  “So hear the word at My mouth and run with the truth to those to whom I send you. Go with My Word and My Word will sustain you. Do not sit still, but arise and go in My name. Gather the harvest I have in this city.”
