5 For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So

6 For = “because”

7 I got my dog’s medicine, for he is sick.

8 I went to the store for ice cream.

9 Independent clause – a fancy-schmancy way of saying a complete sentence

10 And... Boys and girls please sit down.

11 And... I went to the football game, and it was raining outside.

12 Nor... Combines two negative sentences; must have “not” in the first independent clause

13 Nor... I do not like you nor your sister.

14 Nor... I do not hate you, nor do I like you.

15 But = Yet I love dance but hate gym.

16 But = Yet I hate soccer, but I love football.

17 Or... Offers a choice I want to go to the mall or the movies.

18 Or... Offers a choice I want to go to the mall or the movies.

19 I want to go to the mall, and then I want to go to the movies.

20 But = Yet I like the kid in class, but/yet he doesn’t like me.

21 So = in conclusion I did not study, so I failed miserably.

22 So = in conclusion Don’t go so fast.
