Prayer is not one-way. It is two-way. 3

4 In giving us these words ‘Our Father,’ God binds himself to us. (Luther) 1. The name “Father" gets God's attention
5
Jesus always calls HIM “Father” "Father, I thank you that you hear me always." "Father, I thank you that you have hidden these things from the wise and revealed them to the children." "Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, that they may be one as we are one." "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to share my glory." "Father, glorify me with the glory I had with you before the world began." "Father, if it be your will take this cup from me." "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do." 5

But when the time had fully come, God sent his son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." So your are no longer a slave but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir. Galatians 4:4-7 6 2.We stop trying to be accepted by God. We simply are accepted in Christ.
7
This is the nature of the encounter, not that I am stumbling toward the Abba Father, but that Abba Father is coming towards me. (Stephen Verney) 7 We are adopted – chosen – by our heavenly Father

8 3. We rest from our own works. We cease to strive for our own righteousness. 4. Our Father gifts us with his acceptance. We do not need to prove our worthiness. 5.We enjoy freedom from fear of rejection and punishment in all its forms. Our Father gifts us with his acceptance. We do not need to prove our worthiness.

9 1.When we pray “Hallowed be your name” we are asking that his name would be held in honour and reverence. We ask to revere God’s name in word, thought and deed. Hallowed be Your Name

10 The holiness of God is revealed in different ways: First, precious jewels, perfect in color and clarity, indicate the purity of God. Second, the holy presence of God radiates a brilliant light. The third symbol for God’s holiness is – a fierce, unquenchable, consuming fire. When we put these three symbols together – precious jewels, brilliant light, and consuming fire – we are overcome by the beauty and power of God’s holiness. Hallowed be Your Name
11
2. We pray to partake in His holiness “Be holy as I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16) “Pursue holiness, without which no one shall see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14) 11 3. We will approach God with reverence and joy in Jesus. Who can dwell among the everlasting burnings? (Isaiah 33:14) He who has clean hands and a pure heart. (Isaiah 33:15)
12
4. We pray to practice his holiness in word, thought and deed. 12 5. When we pray”Hallowed be your name” we ask for power.
13
6. Supremely, “hallowed be your name” is a call to worship God as we pray When 13
