4 Role Of UCD Safety Office To advise on: –on all matters of workplace health and safety –legal compliance with health and safety –physical and insurance risk reduction strategies –Legislation To facilitate: –staff training in health and safety To manage: –the operations of the University's insurance programmes –some aspects of the University's Occupational Health Scheme –some aspects of the University's Environmental Management Programmes

7 Introduction To Workplace Safety In UCD Emergency Response – If You Hear The Fire Alarm Prepare to leave the building If the alarm is silenced remain on alert. This does not mean that the emergency is over but that Services staff are dealing with the activation If the alarm resounds or sounds continuously leave the building using the nearest exit and walk to your designated assembly point Make reference to your local response plans

8 Introduction To Workplace Safety In UCD Emergency Response – If You Discover A Fire If you discover a fire activate the fire alarm by breaking a wall mounted break glass unit (All fire alarms are monitored 24hrs per day and your activation will alert Services personnel) Contact 7999 giving details of the fire Do not fight the fire unless you are trained to do so.
