5 2)A Book with Two or More Authors Use the authors’ names in the order they appear in the book. Separate the names with commas. Reverse the order of only the first author’s names. Lakoff, George, and Mark Johnson. Metaphors We Live By. Chicago: U of Chicago P, 1980. Second author’s name, not reversed

6 3) Books with FOUR OR MORE Authors Either list all the names or use the first author’s name followed by “et al.” Bootzin, Richard R., et al. Psychology Today: An Introduction. New York: Random, 1986.

7 4) Books with Editor or Editors Use abbreviation “ed.” or “eds.” preceded by a comma, after the name(s) of the editor(s). Gates, Henry Louis, Jr., ed. Classic Slave Narrative. New York: NAL, 1987. WITH FOUR OR MORE EDITORS, use only the name of the first editor followed by a comma and “et al.”
