3 Mission The mission of the Lindy Boggs National Center for Community Literacy is to promote adult literacy as a vehicle for personal, economic, and community empowerment

4 Pre-Katrina Literacy Challenge 40% of adults in Orleans Parish read below the 6 th grade level 30% of adults in Orleans Parish read between 6 th & 8 th grade level Less than 10% of low-literate adults are enrolled in an adult education program.
