3 MAGTF Concepts • Integrated Air-Ground Team • Single Commander
• Task Organized • Designed to Exploit Combat Power • The MAGTF is a Task Organized, Self-Sustaining, Rapidly Deployable, Expeditionary force of varying size capable of stand-alone operations for up to 60 days.--(description sounds like words from “. . . From the Sea.”) The Marine Corps specializes in attack or crisis response From the Sea. Allows the Naval Commander to extend the maritime battle onto the land without relying on established bases. This is done with helicopters, landing craft, amphibious tractors and LCACs. • In crisis response situations, the MAGTF can rapidly deploy to the area of operations, sustain itself and accomplish the assigned mission. • Provides a SINGLE COMMANDER the optimum combined arms force for the situation he faces. MAGTF can include Infantry, Artillery, Armor, Engineers, Reconnaissance, Aviation and Logistics elements. (Unity of Command is one of the 9 Principles of War.) 3
