2 The Kraft Foods Howard University Recruiting Team announces the availability of the Howard University Kraft Foods Scholars Program. The goal of this initiative is to enhance the awareness of challenging and exciting career opportunities in the food processing and manufacturing industry for highly-trained, well-qualified science and engineering students. The scholars program is open to all students who meet the eligibility criteria. Award recipients will be selected based on the applicants’ academic abilities and accomplishments.

3 PURPOSE The Howard University Kraft Foods Scholars Program is intended to encourage the interest of undergraduate students in furthering their science and engineering education and pursuing career opportunities in the food industry by providing tuition assistance and internship opportunities. AWARD DESCRIPTION Up to two Howard University Kraft Foods Scholars will be named in the Fall Semester of 2007. Each award recipient will be granted a scholarship in the amount of $2,500 and a 10-12 week paid internship at a Kraft Foods research facility. The award is renewable up to two years based on successful completion of the first internship. For administrative purposes, the scholarship portion of the award will be sent directly to the university as the award is intended to support the award recipient’s educational expenses. Awards will be distributed on the first day of the Fall Semester. Scholarship Award and Summer Internships Each Howard University Kraft Foods Scholar will receive a Scholarship Award of $2,500 to support educational expenses for up to two academic years following the successful completion of the summer internships. In addition to the scholarship award, award recipients will receive up to two paid, 10-12 week, Kraft Foods Summer Internship Assignments. These assignments are focused on technical projects and are geared toward developing, teaching and enhancing food development knowledge. Individuals are exposed to the project development cycle, while developing the necessary skills to work with extended teams both cross-functionally and internally. Each internship will be conducted at one of the following Kraft Foods research facilities: Glenview, IL; Madison, WI ; East Hanover, NJ; Tarrytown, NY; or Battle Creek, MI. Kraft will offer travel reimbursement and optional subsidized housing. The internship will take place the summer following the announcement of the Howard University Kraft Foods Scholars. A second internship, if applicable, will take place the subsequent summer. In order to qualify for the second internship and scholarship award a Howard University Kraft Foods Scholar must have a satisfactory performance appraisal for the first internship assignment and maintain a 3.0 GPA. In summary, each award will consist of the following: Up to two paid 10 to 12 week summer internship assignments at a Kraft Foods research facility Up to two $2,500 scholarships

4 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMETS To be considered for the Howard University Kraft Foods Scholars Program, an applicant must be: Enrolled full time at Howard University Classified as a sophomore or junior at the time of application A chemistry, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering major A student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale Committed to two 10-12 week summer internships at a Kraft Foods research facility, if applicable based on classification Legally eligible to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship for visa status SELECTION The Howard University/Kraft Foods Selection Committee will review applications and select award recipients. Applicants will be selected on the basis of their GPA, their demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in food industry, their ability to perform Research and Development work, a formal interview, and the quality of their application APPLICATION PROCEDURE Instructions to Institution: Submit one completed application packet for each applicant. All completed applications should be submitted by Sheryl A. Witherspoon in the Office of Student Services. Upon confirming eligibility of each applicant, submit all eligible applications in one package by the due date. Instructions to Applicant: It is your responsibility to provide all documentation for your application packet. All required items must be included in your application packet. No item should be sent under separate cover. Letters of recommendation should be enclosed in sealed envelopes with a signature across the seal. Official transcripts should be enclosed in sealed envelopes. Submit your complete application packet to Sheryl A. Witherspoon in the Office of Student Services in the Lewis K. Downing Engineering Building. Two completed and signed Letter of Recommendation Forms from faculty members, Howard University administrators, or former employers relevant to area of employment (one recommendation MUST come from a professor in your field of study) Current Resume

5 SUBMISSION/DEADLINE Completed application packets must be postmarked no later than September 28, 2007. Incomplete, late, or faxed applications will not be accepted.
