16 Ingenia Dinosaur by Andriani Kouki

17 About Ingenia Little is known about Ingenia because very little of it has been found. This dinosaur did not have any teeth but instead had sharp, hard, bird-like beak, which it probably used to crack open hard objects, such as eggs, nuts, shoots, and possible even dead animal bones. For this reason, it is believed that Ingenia was probably an omnivore, or an animal that eats both plants and meat. Ingenia lived at about the same time as its closely related cousin, Oviraptor.

29 YANGCHUANOSAURUS "Lizard from Yang-ch'uan, China"

30 Yangchuanosaurus Facts
Name Means : "Yangchuan lizard“ Type : Predator dinosaur Type of Species : Shangyouensis Order :  Saurischia SubOrder : Theropoda InfraOrder : Carnosauria SuperFamily : Allosauroidea Family : Sinraptoridae Lived When : Late Jurassic ( million years ago) Weight : Up to 3.7 tons Length : Up to 35 feet long Diet : Carnivore - Meat eater; other dinosaurs Habitat : China

31 Interesting Yangchuanosaurus Facts
Yangchuanosaurus had ridges and a bony knob on its snout. It had a low crest that ran along the front of its snout from its nose to just in front of its eyes. The crest may have been colour decorated. It had a strong, short neck, and a large skull with jaws that were packed with sharp, serrated teeth. Like many large theropods, it had short arms with three clawed fingers on each hand and its feet had three toes, each with a large claw. Yangchuanosaurus walked on two powerful, muscular legs. Its tail was long and muscular, it was about half of the dinosaurs' total length. Its arms were short, and it had three clawed fingers on each hand. Yangchuanosaurus was only discovered in the 1970s, and very few of his bones have been found. Scientists are still learning about this large meat eater.

32   BEHAVIOR Yangchuanosaurus was a hunter that may have stalked its prey in packs.
INTELLIGENCE Yangchuanosaurus was a carnosaur, whose intelligence (as measured by its relative brain to body weight, or EQ) was high among the dinosaurs.

33 DISCOVERY OF FOSSILS Yangchuanosaurus was found in Yang-ch'uan, China (in Szechuan, eastern China) in the 1970's. It is on display at the Beijing Natural History Museum. Yangchuanosaurus was named by Dong Zhiming in 1978

34 Yangchuanosaurus lives on both Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna where it competes with Allosaurus, its close cousin, for food. It is slightly heavier and stronger than Allosaurus and has a more powerful bite force. It cannot, however, jump as high or run as fast as Allosaurus. Due to its more ground based life its enclosure will not have a roof like those of other allosaurs. They hunt in small packs of up to eight members when handling large prey but they can and occasionally do hunt in solitude.

35 Yangchuanosaurus is identifiable by its distinct coloring which is normally a series of vertical bright yellow stripes that begin on its tail and fade to orange near the middle if its back before turning an orangish red up its neck and ending on its eye crests in a bright crimson colour. Aside from the stripes Yangchuanosaurus is a light olive tone with a whitish underbelly and alpha females have large scarlet circles with black stripes in them around their eyes. Females are usually slightly larger than males and lead packs. The largest ever recorded was a female about 36.5 feet long and 6.25 tons, though larger specimens are reported.

36 Like other allosaurs Yangchuanosaurus can use its jaw two ways: in a typical biting fashion that tears off flesh or in a strange manoeuvre that is done by dislocating the lower jaw and using its powerful neck muscles to bring its upper jaw down with a force of 4.5 tons per square inch. They use the latter tactic to break the vertebrae of very large prey like Diplodocus when they jump on it, while the other is used by larger pack members to tear large chunks off of their prey's underside or flank. Yangchuanosaurus has a large cerebrum for a theropod and this makes it a very deadly threat to humans because it will be capable of forming complex plans and recognizing the danger they pose.
