2 Getting Started with emPower™ Learn-in your new Z-Wave-enabled Alarm.com module following the same process as before: – Perform a Module Swap on the Alarm.com Dealer Website if adding to an existing account Alarm.com Dealer Website – Perform the GSM Phone Test at the panel Upgrade the account service plan to include the Z-Wave “Add-on” features

3 Adding Z-Wave Devices To add Z-Wave devices to the security panel, the panel must be in Add Mode. Follow the panel specific directions included with your kit to enter Add Mode. Trigger the Z-Wave device to register it with the panel. Tip: While adding the Z-Wave device, the security panel must be within 3-6 feet of the device.

4 Light & Appliance Modules Tip: Make sure lamp to be controlled is plugged into the Z-Wave side of the module (indicated by the Z-Wave logo). Tip: Use a non-switched outlet for the module. On an outlet controlled by a switch, make sure the outlet is switched “On” before sending light commands. Tip: Keep lamps switched “On” to allow control through the Z-Wave module, Alarm.com website and mobile apps. Tip: Control dimming of light dimmer modules by pressing and holding button on the module, or through the Alarm.com website. Z-Wave Compatibility GE Lamp Module (45602) GE Fluorescent Light & Appliance Module (45603) Incandescent Lights X (up to 300W) X (up to 600W) Fluorescent Lights (CFBs) x Appliances X (up to 600W) Dimmingx Adding a Light/Appliance Module to the Network: After entering Add Mode on the security panel and with the module plugged into an outlet, double click the button on the module to include it.

5 Thermostat/HVAC Installation: Follow Trane’s instructions for connecting the thermostat with the HVAC system. Adding a Thermostat to the Network: After entering Add Mode on the security control panel, hit the “Menu” button on the thermostat. Scroll down to “Z-Wave Install” and press “Select”. Press the “Yes” button to enroll thermostat. Tip: The Trane Thermostat requires a 24 VAC common wire to power the thermostat. Before beginning installation, verify the HVAC system has a common wire (at least 5 wires total) or contact a qualified HVAC technician. (Trane Thermostat)

6 Door Locks Installation: Follow Schlage’s instructions for installing the lock. Adding a Lock to the Network: After entering Add Mode on the security panel, enter the programming code (given by Schlage), press the “Schlage” button, and then “0”. The “Schlage” button will flash green when inclusion is successful. Tip: The lock must be within 3-6 feet of the security panel during inclusion. If the security panel is wall-mounted, consider adding the lock to the network before completing lock installation on the door. Tip: Before removing old locks or beginning installation, check layout of door to make sure new lock will not conflict with existing hardware. Tip: Contact a locksmith if you experience difficulties removing old hardware or installing the new lock. Tip: Be sure to login to www.alarm.com immediately after adding the lock to the network to authorize user codes for the lock.www.alarm.com (Schlage Locks)

7 emPower™ on the Customer Website Lights: Remotely control lights, set automated light schedules, and setup event-triggered light automation. Locks: Remotely lock/unlock door, view lock state (locked/unlocked), view lock event history, and set lock notifications. Tip: Login to the Alarm.com Customer website at www.alarm.com to check out the new emPower features available for lights, locks, and thermostats.www.alarm.com Thermostats: View current temperature & mode, change thermostat mode & target temperature, create and set energy-saving cooling and heating schedules, and set thermostat notifications.

8 emPower™ on Alarm.com Dealer Website emPower Service Plan: Add or Remove emPower features to the customer service plan via the Alarm.com Dealer Site. emPower Device List: View a customer’s current list of Z-Wave devices by pulling up the customer record and clicking on the “emPower TM Devices” link. Here you can view current devices, request an updated device list, or delete a failed device. Tip: Use the Alarm.com Dealer Site to help support your Alarm.com emPower accounts. emPower Hardware: Alarm.com emPower enabled modules and some of our recommended emPower devices (lights, locks, thermostats) will be sold on the Alarm.com Dealer Site through the “Order Hardware” link. emPower Documentation: emPower installation instructions and information can be found in the “Support Tools” section of the Alarm.com Dealer Site.
