What looks like a boring summer quickly shapes up to be an adventure when Nanna B. reveals to Kate that her house is haunted. Most of the spooks in Nanna B's house are friendly, but when Kate and her new friend Bernard disturb a violent creature locked away in the attic, their adventure turns into a race against time.

Kate and Bernard accidentally left his door unlocked while playing upstairs in forbidden territory. After stealing the shadow of Trigger, a rocking horse, he has started his slow, determined decent into the rest of the house. The more shadows he steals, the longer his reach becomes. Can Kate stop him from getting his revenge on Nanna B?
