2  Participation Levels in IB  Test Registration  CAS Requirements and Submission  Questions?

3  Certificate  Medallion  Diploma

4  Certificate - single IB courses, internal assessments, and May Session Exams  Medallion – 3 SL/HL courses completed, all internal assessments, CAS, and May Session Exams  Diploma – 6 SL/HL courses, all internal assessments, Extended Essay, CAS, and May Session Exams

5  All internal assessments for 6 subjects  6 exams (one in each of 6 areas), earning at least 24 of 45 points.  Minimum of 3 SL and 3 HL exams (2 SL and 4 HL is the maximum)  Successful completion of Extended Essay – up to 4000 words  Successful completion of: “Theory of Knowledge” course (Junior Year – Spring Semester, Senior Year – Fall Semester)  Completion of CAS Program – Creative, Action & Service  “Extra” exam(s) may be taken if full IB course is completed

9  Once you register the last day you can make changes is Thursday, November 13 th  In order to take an IB Exam you must be enrolled in the course. If you drop the course mid-year you will NOT be able to take the exam  You must have completed all internal assessments (orals, projects, etc…) for a course in order to participate in the exam

10  Extracurricular learning component of the IB Diploma Program  Acronym for: Creativity, Action & Service ◦ Creative (45 hours) ◦ Action (45 hours) ◦ Service ( 60 hours)  Hours “count” beginning the summer after 10 th grade

11  Creativity: school plays, painting, literary magazine, choreography, music lessons leading to a performance given to the community  Action: sports (school or elsewhere) kickboxing, sailing, weightlifting, weight control activities, skating, rock climbing, yoga classes, running a 5K, etc…  Service: tutoring, nursing home visits, service- oriented clubs, Amigos, election judging, big brother/sister, etc…

12  Counterbalance to academic absorption  Educates the whole person  Promotion of international understanding and provide service to others  Learn and practice new skills and interests  Challenge students to live “outside the box”  Development of attitudes that transcend race, religion, gender and politics
