5. ASTRALLOY V APPLICATION: Description: Subterranean mine Skip hoist car. Customer: Mine in Zacatecas, México Skip Hoisting Capacity: 15 Tons Ore size: - 6” Ore type : Silver sulphides. Equipment operation: 25 skip hoisting per hour. These skips are working 6 hours per shift, three shifts per day throughout the year, including Sundays. The skip hosting stops for only 6 hours for maintenance every Monday. Duration: Astralloy V 9 months vs 3 months with AR 500.

6. ASTRALLOY 8000 & ASTRALLY V APPLICATION: Descripción: Results are in from a trial test of Astralloy 8000 & Astralloy V in Scoop Tram bucket lip applications. Customer: Subterranean mine, Zacatecas, Mexico : Wear analysis: The ASTRALLOY 8000 plate was cut to dimensions 2” x 24” x 112” with a chamfered edge for a 6 yard Scoop Tram bucket lip. This lip lasted 1491 hours of operation and the costs per ton extracted were the following: The unit worked 6.5 hours per shift for a total of 229.3 shifts. The breakdown is as follows: Every 8 minutes it moved 6 tons of material, 45 tons per hour, so total hours worked was 1491 x 45 tons = 67,095 of total tonnage excavated. The plate measuring 2” x 24” x 112” weighed approximately 1525 lbs. By this analysis, the direct cost of the plate (lip) was $2288.00, divided by 67,095 tons gives us a total cost of $.034 cents per ton extracted. The price of $2288.00 was arrived at by using the quoted price at the time of delivery in June of 2006 of $1.50 per pound. In ASTRALLOY V, this same trial gave us a result of 3100 hours of operation under identical conditions as the ASTRALLOY 8000 trial. By this analysis, the direct cost of the plate (lip) was $3431.25, divided by 139,500 tons extracted gives us a total cost of $.024 per ton extracted. The price of $3431.25 was arrived at by using the quoted price at the time of delivery in June of 2006 of $2.25 per pound. TRICON’S TRI-BRAZE lasted just 1100 hours of operation under exact conditions and dimensions. The cost was $1764.00 per plate divided by 49,500 tons extracted for a total operational cost of $.035 per ton extracted. Even if we assume that the Tri-Braze sold at $1.15 per pound at that time, you can still see that the difference in tonnage extracted here versus the Astralloy 8000 is 17,595 tons and 90,000 tons versus the Astralloy V.

7. ASTRALLY V APPLICATION: Description: Automatic dual hopper Customer: Subterranean mines in México Equipment operation: These hoppers release primary crushed material into subterranean rail cars. They are lined with ½” Astralloy V plate and have processed over a million tons of material!

8. APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT : Guide plates coiler entry into the bliss of rolls of foil The plates are Astralloy-V or EB-450 de 2” X 10 5/8” X 14 7/8” machined according drawing This application has been in place for 12 years, having replaced 4140, 1045, X-52, and A515. Prior to the Astralloy solution, these plates lasted only one 8 hour shift of because of extreme abrasion, impact and thermal shock The Astralloy-V plates lasted 20 days in this application. The plates were then turned over and allowed to wear on the other side of the plate. The fine grain and advanced metallurgy of Astralloy V provided excellent resistance to abrasion and impact in this application. The previous problems of folded edges and material breakage were totally resolved.

9. TRIP-L-TUFF APPLICATION: Blast furnace chute The chute distributes the load into the blast furnace; the load consist of coke, fluxes, iron, etc. Plates are Trip-L-Tuff of 5 / 16 "on 5 / 16" fabricated and rolled according to drawings, for blast furnaces 5 and 4. Triten’s material lasted 5 months, Astralloy’s 1 year The chute weighs seven tons and is 1.14 meters in diameter We provide the set of plates and they settle in their chute. Our overlay plates lasted 12 months in this application.

10. ASTRALLOY V APPLICATION: Application: Open quench car in coking plant. Material: Astralloy-V plates 7/8” thickness for floor of open quench car Coking Plant has heavy abrasion, impact and thermal shock Each car held 125 plates 7/8” x 25"x 39 3/ 8" Duration: 4 times more than X-52 or A515 Gr 60.
