3 GSM-R Projects: Projects Map *Taken from 11th transportation, maritime and communication council report, june 2013. Already, about 480 km of HS tracks deployed/contracted for GSM-R system. Also, GSM-R has beginned to be installed on Conventional Rail lines to replace old analog radio systems.

8 Line Characteristics: –Approximately 212km, double track, 1 Tunnel of approx. 2km length –Speed: 250km/h, ETCS Level 2 (Level 1 as fallback) GSM-R Project Data –Vendor: Kapsch –Single Layer Radio Coverage Eirene SRS 3.2.3 compliant: -92dBm, -94dBm, -99dBm, -82dBm target coverage level for trains, shunting,handheld portables and tunnels, respectively. –Integrated into existing NSS –OMC-R for BSS –1 BSC and 1 TRAU, 21 BTS –2 RBC connected to MSC GSM-R Projects (Completed): Ankara-Konya

9 GSM-R Projects (On-Going): Ankara İstanbul Phase II İnönü- Köseköy Section Line Characteristics: – Approximately 150 km, several tunnels of total length approx. 60 km – Speed: 250km/h speed, ETCS Level 2 (Level 1 as fallback) GSM-R Project Data – Vendor: NSN – Double Layer Radio Coverage (Co-sited for open area, interleaved in tunnels): -92dBm, -94dBm, -99dBm, - 82dBm target coverage levels for trains, shunting and handheld portables and tunnels respectively – BTSs are connected to existing BSCs (Phase I), BSS Integrated into existing NSS – # BTS sites: 44 (22 each layer), Each Layer connected to different BSCs, – Tunnel Coverage: F/O Repeaters, Leaky Feeder, Mu’s and OMC for Repater system – 2 RBC will be connected to MSC

10 GSM-R Projects (On-Going): KÖSEKÖY-GEBZE-İstanbul (Haydarpaşa) Section Line Characteristics: – Approx. 100 km(coverage requirement for GSM-R ), 10 tunnels of total length approx. 2701 m – 160km/h speed, ETCS Level 1 GSM-R Project Data – Vendor: Kapsch – Double Layer Radio Coverage (Interleaved using 1 BSC): -85dBm, -82dBm, -99dBm target coverage level for trains, station/shunting yards and handheld portables, respectively In case of one BTS failure, -92dBm coverage requirement – Will be integrated into existing NSS – 1 BSC

11 GSM-R Projects: Köseköy-Gebze BSS Architecture Against failure of one BTS site following scheme is adopted. -92dBm

12 TUNNEL COVERAGE APPLICATIONS-I To raise the reliability of tunnel coverage system, the donor signals of two-adjacent BTS sites signal is fed to each repeater. Additionally, inside the tunnels each RU is placed to ensure coverage even if one RU fails (interleaved coverage)

13 TUNNEL COVERAGE APPLICATIONS-II Tunnel coverage scheme using antennas: 1 tunnel approx. 2km length Coverage requirement >-82dBm is met. Tunnel coverage also tested for subset 093 for data Drive Test Result for Coverage

14 GSM-R QoS Drive Tests Applications For Voice Quality; –Coverage level, RxQual –Handover success rate, Handover execution delay –Connection establishment delay (also for ETCS data) –Cell (re)selection/HO ping pong –Call Set up success rate, Connection Drop Rate (also for ETCS data) –In Tunnel Coverage –Handheld Units Coverage For Data (in accordance with Subset 093); –Data transmission interference rate –Transfer delay of user data frame –Connection loss rate (data) –Network registration delay
