3 The Faculty of Classical and Modern Philologies Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Faculty of Classical and Modern Philologies Covers all languages except the Slavic – English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian, Hungarian, Swedish, Norwegian, Greek, Turkish, Arabic, Armenian, Persian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Hindi The biggest faculty : approx. 3500 students 12 departments 21 BA programs 29 MA programs The biggest provider of foreign language teachers and interpreters/translators

Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Faculty of Classical and Modern Philologies MA level courses in language, literature and civilisation in: - English - French - German - Spanish - Russian (B2 level required for all the languages of instruction) One MA program in English for full-degree seekers:”Language, communication and Advertising “ (in cooperation with the Faculty of Journalism)

7 Erasmus at University and Faculty level Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Faculty of Classical and Modern Philologies Sofia University is a partner in EM Basileus IV project, directed toward academic exchange with universities on the Balkan peninsula, managed by the University of Ghent As a language oriented faculty we are very active users of Erasmus bilateral agreements : out of 428 for the whole university, 81 are signed with our faculty

8 Credit recognition Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Faculty of Classical and Modern Philologies As per Erasmus requirements our students are expected to earn 30 credits per semester during their Erasmus mobility. All credits earned abroad are duly recognized as per the relevant academic record transcript Those subjects which match the compulsory study plan are recognized as such, all the rest are deemed optional (their names are explicitly mentioned in the final diploma’s annex) All foreign students coming to Bulgaria on an Erasmus mobility program are given at the end of their stay an official transcript in English of their academic record

9 Language requirements Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Faculty of Classical and Modern Philologies By default B2 level is expected (but some courses can be harder to follow than others) No certificate is required Optional courses of Bulgarian as a foreign language are organized for incoming Erasmus students by the Faculty of Slavic Languages
