Subjects offered by GHS Biology, BAFS, Chemistry, Chinese Literature, Combined Science, Economics, Geography, History, ICT, Literature in English, Physics, Music, Technology and Living, Visual Arts

Block time-tabling (1) According to the ability of students, they may study 2X or 3X. Students choose from elective subjects that we would offer. In order to maximize the no. of combination of subjects that students can choose, subjects are arranged in blocks according to students’ choice.

Information that you have A sample of student option form. An information sheet that includes a table which indicates the proposed subject combination in different blocks.

Student Option Form In order to shorten the processing time and minimize the chance of students making mistake when filling in the form, an online student option form has been designed for you to submit your choice of subject.

Student Option Form URL: http://app.ghs.edu.hk:8080 http://app.ghs.edu.hk:8080 Username: student ID Password: last 4 digits of students' HKID number e.g:A123456(7)  3456 B765432(A)  5432

Student Option Form Please complete the online Choice of Subject form from 22 June to 23 June 2010. Date for collection of the printout (with parent’s signature) will be on 24 June.

Student Option Form Part 1:Number of elective subjects Students needed to indicate how many elective subjects they would like to take: (a)Five core subjects and TWO elective subjects (b)Five core subjects and THREE elective subjects

Student Option Form Part 2:Option for Extended Part of Mathematics Students needed to indicate their preference on Mathematics (a) Compulsory Part only (b) Compulsory Part and Module 1 (Calculus and Statistics) (c) Compulsory Part and Module 2 (Algebra and Calculus) If you are not going to take the screening test, you have to choose (a). If you are going to take the screening test, you may choose (a), (b) or (c).

Student Option Form Part 3:Order of preference for the elective subjects (All priorities must be filled in) Part 4:Order of combined science (Only needed to be filled in when a student has chosen “Combined Science” in Part 3)

Student Option Form After you have filled in the form press the “Submit” button. YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO SUBMIT ONCE!!! The browser will show what you have chosen. Press the “Print” button and sign on the printout Return the printout to your class teacher.

Subject allocation According to the academic results, students will be ranked: Mid-year Exam Overall Result (30%) + Final Exam Overall Result (70%) Subjects will be allocated to the student according to her ability and preference, until enough (2 or 3) elective subjects have been assigned to her.

Subject allocation Basically, no special strategy is needed and you just have to indicate your preference.

Special requirements If you want to take the extended module of mathematics (i.e. M1 or M2), you need to take a screening test arranged by the mathematics panel. Students will only be allowed to take Music or VA provided that they have got the approval from the panel heads. If you have not approached the panel heads or you are not a qualified candidate, please don’t choose these subjects.

Special requirements Students who wish to take Combined Science in the Science Education KLA have to take the following combinations: 1.Combined Science (Physics, Chemistry) + Biology 2.Combined Science (Chemistry, Biology) + Physics

Case I: Student A She would like to take Music as her electives. In Part 3, just indicate Music as her first priority and then other subjects according to the order of preference (from 2nd to 10th).

Case II: Student B She would like to take VA as her electives. In Part 3, just indicate her order of preference (from 1st to 10th). The name of students who have selected VA will be given to the VA panel head for approval.

Case III: Student C She would not take combined science as her electives. In Part 3, just indicate her order of preference (from 1st to 10th) which should NOT include “Combined Science”. Leave Part 4 empty.

Case IV: Student D She would like to take combined science as her electives. In Part 3, just indicate her order of preference (from 1st to 10th) which should include “Combined Science” and the priority of “Combined Science” should be higher than other science subjects. Need to fill in Part 4.

Case IV: Student D (Reason) In case any one of the selected two science subjects in Part 4 is full, she cannot get the offer.
