Possible source rocks

Van Krevelen Diagram Geochemical data suggest the presence of source rocks with type II and III kerogens. The maturity varies mostly from mature to overmature. %TOC > 1 and Hydrogen Index > 300 mgHC/gTOC

Sub-Basin Cauca Traps Units wedging against the basement Lateral closures against normal and inverse faults. Top of Late Miocene-Pliocene (?) interval (D1) Top of Late Eocene-Middle Miocene Interval (D2) VC-1979-03 LINE

Sub-Basin Cauca Traps Seismic expression of the plays VC-1980-1350 LINE Lateral closures against normal and inverse faults. Top of Late Miocene-Pliocene (?) interval (D1) Top of Late Eocene-Middle Miocene Interval (D2)

Sub-Basin Patía Traps CP-1990-1850 LINE Middle-upper disconformity to the base of the Esmita Formation (D3). Top of Middle Eocene interval (D4). Fault propagation folds

Sub-Basin Patía Traps CP-1990-1450 LÍNE Middle-upper disconformity to the base of the Esmita Formation (D3). Top of Middle Eocene interval (D4).

Event Chart 1.Marine, deltaic and fluvial organic rich deposits. Some coaly units. 2.Coastal to fluvial clastic units. 3. Local clay levels interbedded with potential reservoirs; fine- grained volcaniclastic deposits.

Prospectivity Late Cretaceous-Eocene organic rich (type II and III) potential source rocks. Paleocene-Miocene sandstones and conglomerates with good porosity and permeability. Favorable geometries for hydrocarbon accumulation, fault propagation folds, stratigraphic wedging and lateral closures against normal and inverse faults. CBM exploration opportunities related to Paleogene coal beds.
