1 WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY? EVALUATION Q3

2 Distribution Company (Paramount pictures) The institution we used for our opening title sequence we used Paramount Pictures. This is because the institution is consistently ranked as one of the largest (top-grossing) film studios. We thought the company links with other thriller films can make our own thriller film a success. The film having distributed many mainstream thriller films known to a wide range of audiences can only increase our audience. Some of the thriller films Paramount Pictures have distributed: World War Z (20013) Paranormal Activity 2007 Mission Impossible (2011) Also Psycho by (Alfred Hitchcock, 1960) the film that inspired the making of our film I SPY. The institution was founded in 1912.

3 Mainstream films points  Known Actors/Producers The Actors are mostly likely to be known to all audiences. The directors and producers will mostly be familiar to the audiences because of their previous films. The advertisement through social media and viral advertisement can increase a high number of audience to see the film. In our opening title sequence we used our group mates and organised roles to who is producing, acting and directing.  High Budgeted The budget of the props and wages of the actors is mostly high budget which is over £1 million. The set design will have some major changes due to the film having a higher budget. The props will be able to be of top quality as we can afford to provide this in our budget.  Familiar locations This means there will be higher demands for the familiar locations but that doesn’t really affect us. The familiar location like cities and resorts can be a anywhere we like as we have the luxury of a high budget.  maximum special effects The special effects can also effect the budget used on creating the film but we can freely use these although for our opening title sequence we didn’t really include any.

4 ADVERTISING The advertising of a mainstream film can be done in many ways and by different distributors. Mainstream films do their advertisements on posters and advertising on TV. The other way to advertise is usually done by the word of mouth and this is not effective to different audiences and may be realised to reach a small specific audience based on the films genre or stars. I SPY will be advertised on billboards and posters such as bus stops and magazines, on buses or just around different cities, capitals and towns. Some festivals may advertise mainstream films in order to raise the audiences. DVD and TV releases will be advertised for the mainstream film and would gross in more money from the DVD sales. Independent films will realise their films through DVD and TV sales, but wouldn’t have as much publicity then a mainstream would, for the certain attributes that the mainstream film had, such as an award winning the academy awards for the best director or popular actor.
