3 Facts about Marcus Marcus was born on April 20th, 83 BCE, in Rome, Roman Republic. Marcus lived a dissipate lifestyle as a youth, he gained a reputation for heavy gambling. His years of service was BC His commands held were the Roman Army. Marcus died August 1, 30 BC (aged 53) He died in Alexandria, Ptolemaic Kingdom. Antony committed suicide by falling on his sword.

4 Marcus & Cleopatra Mark Antony one of the Triumvirs of Rome along with Octavian and Lepidus has neglected his soldierly duties after being beguiled by Egypt's Queen, Cleopatra. Antony summoned Cleopatra to Tarsus in October 41 BC. There they formed an alliance and became lovers. Antony and Cleopatra is actually a play by William Shakespeare.

5 Important Events Year Event 56 B.C. Campaigned in Gaul with Caesar.
Quaestor (Quaestors served as paymasters in the military.) 49 B.C. Fled to join Caesar when he crossed the Rubicon. (The river) 44 B.C. After falling out with Octavius, the two are reconciled and form the second triumvirate with Lepidus.

6 Continued… Year Event 42 B.C. At Philippi, Antony and Octavius defeat Republican army under Brutus. Antony begins love affair with Cleopatra. 40 B.C. First wife, Fulvia, dies, and Antony marries Octavia, sister of Octavius. She keeps peace between the two 37 B.C. Begins extended pleasure visit to Cleopatra in Egypt, neglecting concerns of the state. 36 B.C. Invades Parthia, but then returns to Egypt, continuing to alienate Octavius and all of Rome. (alienate: to make someone feel hostile.) 31 B.C. Antony and Cleopatra sail off in the middle of the battle of Actium, retreat to Egypt and commit suicide.

7 A story about Marcus When Marc Antony’s duties took him to Egypt, he met Queen Cleopatra and was immediately beguiled. The spell she used on him was intense, and Marc Antony soon began to neglect his duties in order to be with her. While he dallied with the Egyptian queen, Rome was in an uproar and his wife in Rome died.

8 Another Story about Marcus
Marc Antony wanted domination, which is dangerous for Rome because he will go to any length to achieve his objective. The length includes Marc Antony betraying his country officials along with the citizens by deceiving them.

9 Continued.. Antony tells the conspirators that although he is sad about his dear friend's death, if they believe the action they took was necessary then he will have to agree. However, once the conspirators leave, Antony reveals to Caesar's body that he will indeed seek his revenge.
