2. Assessment There will be a series of lessons over the next 2-3 weeks, where we will investigate global warming and the green house effect. The assessment will be in the form an essay which will be no more than 4 A4 sides.This must be completed during lessons, however you are able to research at home and then bring it in. This will count for 10% of your GCSE grade!

The Greenhouse effect 1.Solar radiation passes through the clear atmosphere. 2.Some solar radiation is reflected by the atmosphere and the earths surface. 3.Some of the infrared radiation passes through the atmosphere and is lost to space. 4.Some of the infrared radiation is absorbed and re-emmitted by the green house gas molecules. The direct effect is the warming of the earth’s surface and its troposphere. 5. Some energy is absorbed by the earth’s surface and warms it, converting it to heat causing the emmission of long wave radiation (infrared) back in to the atmosphere.
