2 ODDR&E PBR11 Issue: Deployable Force 07/06/09 Page-2 CLOUDBREAK is: –An initiative sponsored by Assistant Secretary of Defense, Research & Engineering (ASD(R&E)) –Focused on delivering common tools and capabilities to meet COCOM gaps –A vehicle to demonstrate mature capabilities to Joint Warfighters in conjunction with COCOM Exercises –Leverages Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (JCTD), Program of Record (PoR), Pilots, and other relevant capabilities –A series of Campaigns to demonstrate capabilities and measure performance CLOUDBREAK isn’t: –A Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (JCTD) –Cloud Computing CLOUDBREAK

3 ODDR&E PBR11 Issue: Deployable Force 07/06/09 Page-3 CLOUDBREAK Process Migration from closed one-of-a-kind systems to a toolset of “composable” (build your own) capabilities available across the COCOMs ‒ Agility to meet the needs of today's uncertain world ASD (R&E) CLOUDBREAK– rapidly field new “plug and play” capabilities in an operational context Problem/Gap Definition Problem/Gap Definition Spiral Deliveries Spiral Deliveries Capabilities/ Solutions Capabilities/ Solutions Problem/Gap Definition Capability SurveyGap Analysis Solution Roadmap and Priorities Interviews Observe Operations Storefront delivery - Campaign Demonstrations Enterprise Architecture
