3 Our Curriculum The curriculum aims to ensure that all children and young people in Scotland develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they will need if they are to flourish in life, learning and work, now and in the future.

4 Broad General Education Your child is currently in the second year of their entitlement to a Broad General Education This provides them with continuous opportunities for learning in the eight Curricular Areas. Our broad curriculum is based on Subject Experiences and Outcomes that provide breadth and depth, challenge and enjoyment.

8 S2 Personalisation & Choice Your child’s Curriculum for Excellence Preferences Process started on Monday 27th October 2014 This involves indicating preferred subjects from four curricular areas to study in more depth from January of S2 until the end of S3. This period of time forms the second phase of their Broad General Education

9 S2 Personalisation & Choice All pupils will continue to study the following compulsory subjects until the end of S3*, with the exception of Learn to Learn, which will continue until the end of S2. 12 What Do You Do Next ? In discussion with your child you will write down your child’s preferences on the form. In each of the 4 curricular areas you will write down your child’s 1st, 2 nd, 3rd* and 4th* choice (*where applicable) as shown in previous example completed for you. All subjects will be studied for two periods per week. We will try our very best to give all pupils their first choices where possible, though this cannot always be guaranteed.
