I am from gingerbread houses and neighborhood Easter egg hunts-- agnostic celebrations of Christian holidays. I am from the Wisconsin and northern Europe, rugula and Yorkshire pudding. From scrabble tiles placed in various places, spelling things like "perspective" and "read" and “dream”; the screech of the tablesaw and startling air compressor--hearing blues only in short intervals; from the mobile dancing above the woodstove and living room foot "bicycle" turned violent among sisters.
