2 The myth of the Children Of The Sun comes from Peru, South America
The myth of the Children Of The Sun comes from Peru, South America. You can find it in your world mythology book on page 576. It is a story about how the Inca civilization came to be. The purpose of this myth is to teach humans the civilized way of life.

3 Characters Father Sun- is a God that lives in the heavens.
Manco Capac- is the son of Father Sun. Mama Olloc Huaco- is the daughter of Father Sun.

5 Summary In the beginning, the Inca people lived like wild animals. They wore clothes made from animal skin, leaves, bark from trees or no clothes at all. They gathered grass, berries, roots and sometimes ate human flesh. Father Sun took pity on the humans. He decided to send one of his sons, Manco Capac, and one of his daughters, Mama Olloc Huaco, to earth to try to teach the humans a better way of living. He gave them a golden rod to test the soil to build the sacred city of Cuzco. When they found the spot where the golden rod sunk into the earth in a lush, green valley the city of Cuzco was found.

The brother and sister went separate ways to gather the wild people. When they came to Cuzco they were taught how to do things such as farming and making clothes. The people built a temple in honor of their great provider. The Inca civilization was thriving. Manco Capac taught the men to build weapons such as bows, arrows and clubs so they can defend themselves and expand their kingdom.
