An Encounter with Isaiah Isaiah 44:1 – 45:25 Lesson 19 A Message of Hope

Isaiah 45:22: Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

An Encounter with Isaiah Isaiah 44:1 – 45:25 Lesson 19 A Message of Hope

Isaiah 44:2-3: This is what the Lord says— he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you: Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. Psalm 118:7: The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies. Hebrews 13:6: So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Joel 2:28-29: “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.

Isaiah 44:6: “This is what the Lord says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God. Revelation 1:8: “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Isaiah 44:7-8: Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and lay out before me what has happened since I established my ancient people, and what is yet to come— yes, let them foretell what will come. Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.”

Polemic Against Idolatry Exodus 20:3-4: “You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, Isaiah 44:10: Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit nothing?

A Point of No Return Isaiah 44:18: They know nothing, they understand nothing; their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see, and their minds closed so they cannot understand. John 12:39a: For this reason they could not believe Genesis 6:3: My Spirit shall not contend with humans forever;

Isaiah 44:21-23: “Remember these things, Jacob, for you, Israel, are my servant. I have made you, you are my servant; Israel, I will not forget you. I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.” Sing for joy, you heavens, for the Lord has done this; shout aloud, you earth beneath. Burst into song, you mountains, you forests and all your trees, for the Lord has redeemed Jacob, he displays his glory in Israel. I have made you (v. 21) My servant (v. 21) I will not forget you v. (21) I have swept away your offenses (v.22) I have redeemed you (v. 22) Sing for joy – He is glorified (v. 23)

The Wise vs. God Isaiah 44:24-25: “This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the Lord, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself, who foils the signs of false prophets and makes fools of diviners, who overthrows the learning of the wise and turns it into nonsense,

The Wise vs. God Isaiah 47:13: All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Job 5:12-13: He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success. He catches the wise in their craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are swept away. Isaiah 29:14: Therefore once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder; the wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.” 1 Corinthians 1:20, 27: Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

An Astounding Prophecy Isaiah 44:28 – 45:1: who says of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd and will accomplish all that I please; he will say of Jerusalem, “Let it be rebuilt,” and of the temple, “Let its foundations be laid.”’ “This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut:

A Message of Hope in Cyrus Isaiah 45:4: For the sake of Jacob my servant, of Israel my chosen, I summon you by name and bestow on you a title of honor, though you do not acknowledge me. Isaiah 45:7: I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the L ORD, do all these things.

Isaiah 45:9: “Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘The potter has no hands’?

Isaiah 45:11: Thus says the Lord, The Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: “Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons; And concerning the work of My hands, you command Me. (NKJV)

Isaiah 45:18: For thus says the Lord, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the Lord, and there is no other. (NKJV) Genesis 1:1-2: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Isaiah 45:21: Tell and bring forth your case; Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the L ORD ? And there is no other God besides Me, A just God and a Savior; There is none besides Me. (NKJV) Just: having a basis in or conforming to fact or reason (Reasonable); acting or being in conformity with what is morally upright or good (Righteous); legally correct (Lawful)

Isaiah 45:22-23: “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear. Everyone Can Get It; Everyone Will Get It 2 Peter 3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

What is God’s Purpose? Isaiah 44:10: Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit nothing?

What is God’s Purpose? Isaiah 44:10: Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit nothing?

What is God’s Purpose? Isaiah 44:10: Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit nothing? Romans 5:3-5: And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
