2 In Kindergarten, your child will learn with friends. We emphasize teamwork!

3 In Kindergarten, your child will learn mathematical skills through manipulative use in fun activities. Erik and Tayler are using pattern blocks!

4 In Kindergarten, your child will learn to write words and stories through modeling and independent practice.

5 In Kindergarten, your child will meet for guided reading time. Your child will develop their reading skills through small group practice.

6 In Kindergarten, your child will practice reading independently. Ben is finger pointing as he reads!

7 In Kindergarten, your child will use centers to practice new skills in all curriculum areas. Sarah is writing a message to her teacher!

8 In Kindergarten, your child will develop many skills through instruction in: Physical Education (5 times per week) Music (3 times per week) Art (2 times per week) Library (Once a week) Computer Lab (Once a week)

9 You child will spend quiet time and make new friends. Kent is Caleb’s buddy!

10 In Kindergarten, your child will have celebrations to recognize holidays or as part of the curriculum. What fun they are!

11 In Kindergarten, families are encouraged to visit the classroom to volunteer! It is a way to build the home-school connection!

12 Is your child ready for Kindergarten? Can he/she: Recognize first name in print? Identify letters in their name or more? Listen quietly to a 15 minute story? Use proper pencil grip when writing and write their first name? Use scissors appropriately to cut ¼ inch from a line or better? Use glue with control? Separate from family members with confidence? Share things with others? Play cooperatively with Peers? Willingly speak with and listen to adults? Follow simple 3 step directions? Identify basic shapes (4) and Colors (8)? Rote count to 20 or higher? Count 10 objects with 1:1 correspondence? Recognize the difference between numbers and letters?
