Graceful Living. II Cor. 5:4-5-- 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life 5 Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
Graceful Living Phil. 1:21-23-- 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far
Graceful Living Romans 2:8-But for those who are self- seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. MUSTN’T MINIMIZE OBEDIENCE: THE UNSAVED
Graceful Living I Peter 4:17- For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? MUSTN’T MINIMIZE OBEDIENCE: THE UNSAVED
Graceful Living II Thess. 1:8-9- He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power MUSTN’T MINIMIZE OBEDIENCE: THE UNSAVED
Graceful Living John 3:36-“He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” MUSTN’T MINIMIZE OBEDIENCE
Graceful Living The grace of God does not excuse disobedience in the unbeliever!
Graceful Living I Pet. 1:2-To God’s elect…who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling of his blood I Peter 1:22-Now that you have purified yourself by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for the brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart MUSTN’T MINIMIZE OBEDIENCE: THE SAVED
Graceful Living Romans 6:17-18-But thanks be to God that though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness MUSTN’T MINIMIZE OBEDIENCE: THE SAVED
Graceful Living Romans 6:16-Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey-whether you are slaves to sin which leads to death, or to obedience which leads to righteousness. You are a slave to the one whom you obey. MUSTN’T MINIMIZE OBEDIENCE: THE SAVED
Graceful Living Phil. 2:12-Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence-continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. MUSTN’T MINIMIZE OBEDIENCE: THE SAVED
Graceful Living So, is it… Wishing VERSUS Obeying? Or Wishing AND Obeying! Does Graceful Living include Obedience?
GRACEFUL LIVING… Isn’t wishing merely to affirm truth Is wishing to hear how / what to obey
GRACEFUL LIVING… Isn’t relegating obedience to a feel-good option Is determining to obey Christ however I feel
GRACEFUL LIVING… Isn’t trusting one’s obedience for his salvation Is trusting God’s grace as I try to obey Him
GRACEFUL LIVING… Isn’t fearing I haven’t done enough to be saved Is a fear-free heart while not obeying perfectly
