4 MARKETING Marketing is defined as the action or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising. 5 MANAGEMENT Management is the process of reaching organizational goals by working with and through people and other organizational resources. Management has three important characteristics: It is a process or series of continuing and related activities. It involves and concentrates on reaching organizational goals. 6 ECONOMICS Economics is the study of the production and consumption of goods and the transfer of wealth to produce and obtain those goods. Economics explains how people interact within markets to get what they want or accomplish certain goals. There are two branches of Economics: Microeconomics focuses on the actions of individuals and industries, like the dynamics between buyers and sellers, borrowers and lenders Macroeconomics analyzes the economic activity of an entire country or the international marketplace. 7 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT (ALSO CALLED IT OR IT MANAGEMENT) IT Management is the disciplines whereby all of the information technology resources of a firm are managed in accordance with its needs and priorities. fastest IT Management is the fastest growing business discipline. 11 COMMERCIAL LAW (AKA: BUSINESS LAW) Commercial law, also known as business law, is the body of law that applies to the rights, relations, and conduct of persons and businesses engaged in commerce, merchandising, trade, and sales. It is often considered to be a branch of civil law and deals with issues of both private law and public law.
