“The Church that is Going Forward in its Worshipping and Praising God on Purpose” 2011 Motto: Mount Horeb: The Church that is Worshipping and Praising God on Purpose Emphasis: Corporate/ Individual Worship and Praise Psalms 95:6, John 4: 23, Psalms 149: 1-4, 150

A working definition for both could be described as an expression and or demonstration of one’s knowledge, love, adoration, and reverence for the Lord (D.K.L.A.R). In addition, it is, “the expressed commitment of trust and obedience to the covenant responsibilities, and memorial reenactment of entering into covenant through ritual acts, all with the confident anticipation of the fulfillment of the covenant promises in glory.” In the awareness of these enduring truths, we find worship and praise most clearly delineated and defined.

The visionary goal that God has placed upon my heart for the body of Christ here at Mount Horeb is the desire for greater knowledge of God and an appreciation for worship and praise, coupled with an openness and freedom of expression within the context of our worship experience, be it corporately or individually.

Through a greater knowledge of the Eternal, an appreciation for worship and praise along with an openness and freedom of expression within the context of our worship experience, be it corporately or individually, we as the people of God should become more biblically aware, theologically astute, and spiritually mature.

The vision of Worshipping and Praising God on Purpose should be the overarching focus, goal, and objective of every ministry of Mount Horeb Baptist Church for 2011. With the vision for our body of Christ now having been shared, let us collectively pour it both into and through the mission statements of the various ministries and auxiliaries of our congregation.

Beginning 2011, our youth and young adults shall provide leadership in worship and praise through devotional participation, singing, liturgical/praise dancing, mime, and etc…,. Furthermore, we must begin to birth and provide more relevant ministries for this particular demographic. Thus, our vision for both this year and the years ahead is inclusive of, but not limited to, the development and realization of vibrant youth and young adult revivals, bible studies, conferences, retreats, and trips along with a plethora of Christian spiritual, educational, psychological, social, physiological programs, and athletic activities.

Our desire to praise and worship God on purpose should equally include a Hospitality /Greeters Ministry. The bible tells us that we should be given to hospitality (Romans 12:13). Thus, hospitality is a feature of how we are to praise and worship God on purpose. We should welcome, invite, and make to feel comfortable all who enter into our experience of worshipping and praising God on purpose. This is a manner of demonstrating God’s love that is appropriate for a congregation that is open and embracing of all who are God seekers. By having this ministry, no one should arrive or depart without having an interpersonal encounter with someone from the Mount Horeb Baptist Church Family, within the context of purposeful praise and worship. In addition, this ministry will seek to better integrate and welcome new members into the broader scope of our congregation and its ministries.

While contemplating the vastness of this bright and brilliant future that we have never seen before, let us remember the tone and tenor of the words the Lord spoke as found in Isaiah 43:19 when he said, “Behold, I will do a new thing…,.”
