Sentence Fragments Phrases that lack a subject or a verb or both. Example lacking subject: “Wouldn’t do that!” Example lacking verb: “Not me.” Example lacking both: “Never in million years.”

Sentence Fragments Parts of sentences that need to be connected to a main clause. Example: I need to get a new car. Because mine doesn’t run. Example: You guys haven’t been practicing hard. Which is why you’re going to run five miles today.
