2 Uri was born and raised in Jerusalem. From a young age he was superior in sports especially in basketball and track and field.

3 In the army he was the Sports Officer responsible for all the Nahal teams in all the tournaments of the entire I.D.F. (Israel Defense Forces).

4 From early on he loved to teach and to coach.

6 After his studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem he received his M.A. degree in Recreational Studies at George Williams College in Chicago

7 There he met the Chicago Bulls….

12 He started to develop the idea of recreational and sports games at Givat Washington in the 1970’s.

13 He introduced new ideas and special equipment in his games that weren’t known in Israel.

21 About 30 years ago Uri started to organize hundreds of recreational events throughout Israel. A team of teachers who were his former students helped him.

24 He held active recreation days in parks and kibbutzim.

62 Uri continued to learn new ideas at conventions and conferences abroad. There he also taught his ideas and games.

70 Personal Development Training for teachers was very important to him. He wanted to give teachers effective tools that would help them in physical education classes and in developing sports and recreational games in schools and the community.

79 “The New Games Corner” was Uri’s last book and was left unpublished. Some of the ideas from this book will be introduced in classes given today. www.urilipzin.com This web site will contain more chapters from the book and material from his former books.

80 That’s how we will remember him. Uri loved sports. His games enabled participation for everyone in a wide range of activities and enjoyment by all.
