1 The person with disabilities has NEVER worked 1-He has a clear and personal idea of what he wants to do 3-He has an idea of what he wants to do but mainly influenced by his family/others 2-He doesn’t have idea, doesn’t know what he wants to do. Is he interested in a project because it’s easy money making, and saw other people doing it. Is he interested in a project because he always wanted to do it and/or think he can make a living out of it? Does he think that he cannot do much because he has a disability and/or no skills at all? Is he really personally motivated by this activity or he would prefer to do something else? Is the family already running the business or had done it before? Will the person with disabilities have a relevant role in the family business (not just small subalterns tasks)? Does he just need support for thinking it out, information? IGA new activity appraisal F#4 Rapid market appraisal S#1 & validate motivation to WORK From this appraisal, you can decide either to study further the project #F4, if the motivation for this specific activity is demonstrated and if there is a market. If not, evaluate if he is in situation 2 or 3. Situation F#2 Business Idea Generation F#3 (market appraisal… S#1) Proposition Soft skills training From this support, you should be able to define if he is in situation 1 or 3, or if he also need soft skills training. Further to this support, reevaluate the situation of the person. What should we know about the person with disabilities who has been referred to the livelihood team: Purpose of the first meeting between the person and the facilitator (1) If not, check whether if he is more in situation 1 or 2 If not, a work has to be done with the person and the family to find out why he is not implicated and work on the obstacles (often psychological/social – vision of disability) If not, follow the situation 1, but keep in mind that this will be a family business and that the project should be defined with the other actors Follow the situation scheme for someone who already had/has an activity

2 The person with disabilities has worked BEFORE 1-He wants to start the activity he was running before 4-He has a new idea of what he could do but mainly influenced by his family 2-He doesn’t know what he can do now. Did he stopped his previous activity because of other factors than his disabling situation? (bankrupt, lack of motivation…) Is he interested restarting the project because he was doing it and made a living out of it, and an accident made him stop it? Does he think that he cannot do much because he has a disability and no skills (little confidence)? Is he really personally motivated by this activity or he would prefer to do something else? Is the family already running the activity or had run it? Will the person with disabilities have a relevant role in the family business (not just small subalterns tasks)? Does he just need support for thinking it out, information (often when the activity was stopped not because of the disability?
