Earth’s Structure The egg that you live on
Parts of the earth Hydrosphere- water makes up about 70% of the earth’s surface. Lithosphere- the earth’s rocky, outermost layer.
Parts of the Earth Atmosphere- the layer of gases surrounding the earth. Biosphere- the area on or near the earth’s surface that supports plant & animal life.
Earth’s Structure Core- mostly iron & nickel.Mantle- a layer of semi-solid rock around the core; 1800 miles thick. Crust- thin, rocky surface layer; 4 to 45 miles thick.
Convection Currents The heating & cooling of the mantle that causes the crust to move. Internal force responsible for building new landforms.
Plate Tectonics The theory that the earth’s outer shell is not one solid piece of rock but is broken into a number of moving plates.
Continental Drift The theory that the continents were once part of one large landmass & moved to their present positions after millions of years.
Inside the Earth.
Forming our Earth.
The Earth’s Structure.
The atmosphere includes layers of gases that surround the earth. The lithosphere is the surface of the earth that forms continents and the ocean floor.
The earth’s structure. Earth’s Internal Structure: Compositional Layers.
Atmosphere, Hydrosphere, Lithosphere, and Biosphere. 5/21/2015.
Layers of the Earth. Composition (What it is made of) Inner Core Outer Core Mantle Crust.
Layers of the Earth. What Are The Earth’s Layers ? Inner Core Outer Core Mantle Crust.
My class will be studying the earth, and so the subject is Geology. We live in the Biosphere. That glacier is considered to be part of the Hydrosphere.
Chapter 4 Lesson 1 Plate Tectonics. What Are Earth’s Layers.
Changes to the earth and atmosphere. The Earths Structure All resources come from the Earth, its atmosphere and the oceans. The Earth is a sphere. It.
Structure and Movement of the Earth Structure, Shape, and Internal Systems of the Earth.
Forces of Change.
The Earth’s Layers The earth is about 24,900 miles in circumference.
Structure of the Earth Not so solid Earth. The Earth has three levels: Core, Mantle, Crust.
The Earth Chapter 7 Notes.
Mar. 19 th Day 1 Review Drill: Which part of the Earth creates the magnetic fields? How are they produced? Objective: SWBAT create a diagram of the Earth.
Changes Within the Earth. Geology - study of the earth’s physical structure and history - looks at changes of the earth, causes and effects, predictions-
