Explanation – December 2013 data had to be published as-is. – October 2015 new Annex III datasets have to be harmonized. – Population grids concern 2 INSPIRE themes ‐ SU: Statistical Units (grid) ‐ PD: Population Distribution – TWG SU and PD has delivered 2 data specifications – They were translated in schema definition files (.xsd) 5

22. Conclusions – HALE seems to do the job and has good forum support – Splitting one dataset into two does not make it easier for the GIS users – It is not clear how to implement SU and PD models in other encodings than GML 22

23. Discussion – Should there be a combined model (xsd) for SU-PD? If so, How do we arrange this? If not: ‐ How do we make PD useable for GIS-users? ‐ Should there be one SU-grid service for EU? ‐ Is there a need for a Table Joining Service for grids? – How do we deal with cross border pixels in INSPIRE? 23
