Stellaluna’s mother and Stellaluna were chased by 2 wild owls. Stellaluna’s mother accidently dropped her in the air.
3
Stellaluna was afraid. She was left hanging all alone. It was difficult for her to hang onto the branches.
4
Stellaluna let go and fell into a bird’s nest. The baby birds said, “It’s o.k.” “Don’t cry.” “It will be fine, you should not be sad.” Stellaluna stayed with the birds.
5
Stellaluna was hungry because she didn’t have any food to eat. So momma bird put a grasshopper into Stellaluna’s mouth. Now, she wasn’t hungry anymore.
6
Momma bird said, “Stellaluna stop teaching my babies bad tricks. Only if you obey my rules, I will let you back into the nest.”
7
All the babies grew quickly. Soon the nest became crowded. That day they all learned how to fly and they did it.
8
Stellaluna wants to be like the birds and be the same as them by landing on a branch.
9
Stellaluna took off flying farther ahead of the birds. The birds were going back home because they didn’t want to get lost. It was starting to get dark.
10
Stellaluna was very tired so she hung onto a branch because she flew for a long time.
11
Stellaluna was holding onto a tree. The bats flew down and asked, “ Why are you hanging upside down?” Stellaluna let go of the tree to try flying at night with the other bats. “Wow! I can fly in the dark,” she said.
12
Stellaluna found a mango and she said, “I don’t know why I was eating bugs. This fruit is delicious!”
13
Stellaluna flew back to the bird’s nest to show them that she could fly in the dark. She told them to try it also. They do! Stellaluna saved the baby birds because they couldn’t see in the dark. She swooped down and saved the three baby birds before they hit the ground.
14
Stellaluna held onto the birds and said, “It is ok to be different.” Stellaluna saved her friends because they could not see in the dark. The birds agreed and they were all happy to be friends.
