Grammar:Compound Subjects & Agreement- Under warm-up Subjects joined by “and” usually take a plural verb Most compound subjects joined by “and” name more than one person or thing and take plural verbs Example: Antonia Brico and Sarah Caldwell are famous conductors. More than one person are listed as conductors.

9. Note Singular subjects joined by “or” or “nor” take a singular verb. Plural subjects joined by “or’ or “nor” take a plural verb Example: A pen or a pencil is needed for this test.

10. Last one: Continued… When a singular subject and a plural subject are joined by “or” or “nor”, the verb agrees with the subject nearer the verb Example: Neither the manager nor the employees want to close the store early.
